Solar where it matters.
We’ve partnered with gender based violence organisations to crowdfund solar panels on their safehouses and family centers to keep survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) safe. These panels will be used to power safehouse security systems, camera feeds and electric fencing during loadshedding from March 2023.
Gender Based Violence (GBV) figures in South Africa have soared as a result of our ongoing electricity crisis. A safehouse cannot protect survivors of GBV when their electric fencing doesn’t work and their camera feeds are down. We’ve partnered with multiple anti-GBV organisations to setup a crowdfunding solution to get solar panels on their safehouses and family centers. You can help fund solar power on these locations, and you can use the product cards below to contribute to the installation of solar on 12 more GBV safehouses in the Western Cape this year.
